United Way Campaign
The BSU Tradition Continues

The Tradition  Continues

Ball State University has a long history of being a community leader in giving. This year, with layoffs, cut backs, and a slowing economy, those in our community with the greatest needs often suffer the most. The building blocks of this year's Delaware County United Way campaign are the basic things that we all need for a good life;

  1. education that leads to a stable job
  2. income that can support a family through retirement, and
  3. good health

In the following weeks university employees will have an opportunity to learn more about this focus and discover ways we can each make a difference in someone else's life. At Ball State University, this fund-raising effort offers three ways to give:

  1. Payroll Deduction Card.
  2. Individual pledging isn't the only way for employees to contribute and help the less fortunate in our community. This website offers several  Fund-Raising Ideas that departments may want to consider. Choose one or more from the list or come up with your department's unique fund-raiser.
  3. Another option is to volunteer. Several of the Community Partners have a need for volunteers throughout the year. Employees may also choose to participate in The Day of Caring. For more information, please visit this the 2009 UNITED WAY EVENTS page.

The university values its partnership with the community and United Way. Since its inception several decades ago, the campaign has continued to grow. In 2008 Ball State employees made contributions totaling $183,273. This figure represents additional contributions made after the 2008 campaign came to a close.

Designations also can be made to other charitable causes in other communities and those that are not affiliated with United Way.
