John and Janice Fisher Institute for Wellness and GerontologyThe Fisher Institute for Wellness and Gerontology provides masters level academic training in both wellness and applied gerontology. It is an academic department in the College of Applied Sciences and Technology. It also offers services to the campus and community, promoting health and wellness across the lifespan. The institute works with multiple colleges and departments to create interdisciplinary educational opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and the community.
The institute sponsors various campus events including the annual Kirkpatrick Conference on Aging each Spring, bringing nationally recognized experts on aging. The institute has a resource center of periodicals, books, videos, and other materials about wellness and gerontology. Graduate students, as part of their learning experiences, may make presentations to various campus populations regarding wellness and gerontology.
