The CIP is Ball State's central facility for international activity on campus. In cooperation with faculty, students, and the local community, the center's administrative services support Ball State's commitment to international teaching  and learning.  It is a source for grants for faculty traveling overseas for conference participation, teaching and research exchanges, and field study development.

Each year, Ball State  hosts foreign students and scholars from more than 80 countries for which the CIP offers admissions and orientation assistance.  American and foreign students, faculty, and community organizations are encouraged to recognize the importance of global cooperation through voluntary and credit-bearing activities organized by the CIP. Participants become members of the Ball State "Global Network," a worldwide network of university alumni and friends who can work together throughout their lives.

More than 35 study-abroad programs are open to all Ball State  students giving them the opportunity to travel overseas to explore intercultural issues outside the classroom.  Programs vary in length, location, and cost; such as semester-long programs in Australia, London, or Vienna; or three to five week summer programs in such places as Turkey and South Africa.  Most programs are faculty-created and implemented.  Information about becoming a field program leader is available at the CIP. 

Ball State faculty members are urged to use other services provided by the CIP such as the Speakers' Bureau, which offers classroom presentations conducted by persons native to nations and cultures of your interests.  Faculty may also be involved as presenters or audience members in weekly (Wednesdays at noon) culture exchange presentations wherein timely topics are featured. 

Faculty may serve the University through roles related to the CIP, such as possible membership on the International Affairs Committee, a University-level Committee which meets regularly at the CIP; by being a department designated liaison to CIP; or by serving a one-semester stint as Faculty Fellow to the CIP, a role which carries with it a reduction in academic load.
