The general scholarships described below are available for qualified students admitted to or enrolled in Ball State University's Department of Theatre and Dance. Information about other awards, financial aid, loan programs, and part-time employment is available through the links to the right.
Presidential Scholarships in the Arts
Starting with the incoming class of 2007-2008, the Department will award 5-7 Presidential Scholarships in the Arts. These awards are half tuition waivers for either instate or out of state students. Presidential Scholarships in the Arts are offered to those students with strong academic credentials and superior talent in their given area. To be eligible, a student must be accepted on a regular or distinction basis by Ball State University and be a declared Theatre and Dance major. Auditions for 2008-2009 Fine Arts Scholarships are November 15, 2008, February 14 and February 28, 2008. Scholarship applications and audition requirements will be available August 2008. Scholarship Opportunities for Minority Students
Remission equal to out-of-state portion of tuition-out-of-state students are charged in-state rate (does not include room and board, university technology fee, residence hall technology fee, coursed-based fees, or Health Center fee) Available for a total of eight semesters, provided the student maintains a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Eligibility for Consideration is:
1. The minority student whose legal residence is outside Indiana
2. A minimum High School GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
3. Rank in top 50 percent of high school graduating class
4. Completion of college preparatory curriculum
5. First-time freshman, fall semester
Fine Arts Scholarships
The Department of Theatre and Dance awards 7-9 Fine Arts scholarships to new students in Theatre and Dance. The scholarships are for $4,000 ($1000 per year for 4 years). Scholarships will be based on talent and potential. To be eligible, a student must be accepted on a regular or distinction basis by Ball State University and be a declared Theatre and Dance major. Auditions for 2008-2009 Fine Arts Scholarships are November 15, 2008, February 14 and February 28, 2009. Scholarship applications and audition requirements will be available August 2008. New Student Talent Scholarships
A limited number of one-year talent scholarships with stipends ranging from $500 to $1,000 are awarded to newly admitted students majoring in theatre or dance. These scholarships are based on a required audition or interview. Learn more about auditions for admission and scholarships.
Upper-Level Talent Scholarships
A limited number of one-year talent scholarships are awarded to theatre and dance majors with sophomore, junior, or senior status. Students must have at least a 3.0 grade point average and a record of active participation in the department's production program. Students can reapply each year. Stipends are $300 to $500.
