Violet, 2008

The Design and Technology Option is intended for the talented and serious student who wishes to pursue a career in design or technical theatre.  This option provides a strong foundation for advanced study in a quality graduate program or an introduction into the profession on an entry level.  Areas of concentration include scenery, lighting, costuming, sound design.  All theatre students also complete a strong core of liberal arts courses.  The Design and Technology Option requires 64 semester hours of credit.

A portfolio review is not required for admittance as a Theatre major in the Design and Technology Option, however a scholarship interview is strongly encouraged.  Design and Technology Option Students must present a portfolio at the end of each spring semester and must pass an exit portfolio at the end of the senior year to complete the option.  The department recommends that Design and Technology students pursue a minor in Art History to supplement the design aspect of your degree.
