Before joining the faculty in the Department of Theatre and Dance, Dwandra lived in New York City where she worked as a professional actress. Her television credits include Law and Order, Third Watch, Law and Order: SVU, and the critically acclaimed ABC series Wonderland by director/producer Peter Berg. She has worked regionally at the Tony award winning Denver Center Theatre; The Huntington Theatre in Boston; the National Black Theatre in New York City; and the Indiana Repertory Theater in the play Doubt. She will soon return to IRT in the production of To Kill a Mockingbird. Dwandra has also toured with the Washington Production Company in "The Life Rosa Parks"; a play about Rosa Parks and her decision not to move from her bus seat on a Montgomery, Alabama bus. She has appeared in numerous commercials, and independent films, and has been a storyteller for the Stories on Stage series in Denver, Colorado. Dwandra received grants from both the Indiana Arts Commission and Ball State University to conduct research (on the topics of Stereotypes and Diversity) at the Schomburg Center for Black Research in Harlem, New York. Dwandra received her MFA from the National Theatre Conservatory, and is a member of (AEA), the Actor's Equity Association, and (SAG), the Screen Actors Guild.
