He is an honors graduate (BA) in dance from Butler University of Indianapolis and a former member of the contemporary modern dance company Dance Kaleidoscope. He has also danced professionally for Starlight Musicals, Equity dinner theatres, and NCL Cruise Lines, and he spent 18 months with the Broadway national tour of 42nd Street.

Worcel has choreographed musicals for Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre of Indianapolis, Ball State theatre, professional summer stock companies, and revues for NCL Cruise Lines and theme parks. He has had numerous concert dance pieces chosen for the Midstates Regional Dance Festivals. Recently he co-directed/co-choreographed the full-length liturgical ballet Le Voyage, accompanied in live concert by inspirational vocalist Sandi Patty. He has also taught and choreographed for the Anderson Young Ballet Theatre regional company since 1990.

In both 1994 and 1999, Worcel was awarded a Certificate of Merit for Choreography by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for his work on Ball State’s production of Company, which was chosen for performance at the American College Theatre Festival Regional Division, and for 42nd Street, which was part of Ball State’s 1999 theatre season. Michael was the recipient of the College of Fine Arts Dean's Teaching Award for 2002.
