She has been a faculty member at Ball State University since 1987. Her teaching experience includes master teacher/director/choreographer for 50 years at her academy and seminars throughout the Midwest. Her credits include 28 years as artistic director/teacher/choreographer and founder of her regional company, Anderson Young Ballet Theatre; 11 seasons as artistic director of Ball State Dance Theatre; Summer Music School at Indiana University; 16 years at Highland High School; 26 years as choreographer for Anderson University musicals; three years with Ball State Summer Theatre; and eight years as a professional dancer. Young has received numerous awards and honors, including the Dean’s Teaching Award from Ball State’s College of Fine Arts in 1998, and she presented the commencement speech in 1999. She also has received the Mayor’s Arts and Culture Award, Women of Achievement Award, Indiana’s Own Channel 8, and was nominated for Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers for 2000 and on the national register for Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals for 2000/2001. In the fall of 2002, Lou Ann was appointed director at large on the national board of Regional Dance America and serves as past president for the Mid-States Regional Ballet Association. She is trained in Cecchetti and Russian techniques and was a student of Margaret Saul for more than 25 years. She is dedicated to her teachings and principles. FALL 2008 Courses:
