Drew Vidal joins the BSU Department of Theatre and Dance as Assistant Professor of Acting and Stage Combat.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Acting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Theatre Pedagogy with an emphasis in movement and voice.  Between degrees, he resided in Chicago, where he acted and directed movement and violence for theatres both locally and regionally.  As an actor, he worked with The Hypocrites, Famous Door, Red Hen, Defiant Theatre, and Boxer Rebellion, among others.  Favorite roles include D’artagnan in The Three Musketeers (New American Theatre), David in A Going Concern (Famous Door), and Lysnader in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Illinois Shakespeare Festival).   

As a fight director, Drew has choreographed over fifty productions, including Richmond Shakespeare’s Henry IV Pt. 1, Wisconsin Shakespeare Festival’s Hamlet, Henley Street Theatre’s The Spanish Tragedy, and the US premier of Boxer Rebellion’s The Ressurectionsists.  Last fall in Washington DC, working alongside veteran Broadway Fight Director Rick Sordelet, he acted as Associate Fight Director for the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s productions of Taming of the Shrew, Tamburlaine the Great, and Edward II.  Drew is an Advanced Actor/Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors, and will be applying to become a Certified Teacher with that organization in 2010.
