INTERVIEW GUIDELINES
FOR
FINE ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS
IN
THEATRE EDUCATION
The Department of Theatre and Dance encourages students who are interested in theatre education to interview for the Fine Arts Scholarship Program.
- Prepare a resume that outlines your theatre activities (experiences). Include a portfolio or folder of materials which illustrates your work, if applicable. Many students present a loose-leaf notebook containing program copies with a stage photograph for each production they wish to document. Please include any work you have done with workshops, intensive learning, immersive learning, theatre camps and so on.
- Prepare a short purpose statement about what you want to do in the theatre. For example, if you wish to be considered for a Theatre Education scholarship, you should be able to clearly explain why you have a passion for teaching and what skills and values you already have which will make you an effective student now and teacher later.
- Also, be prepared to discuss and answer questions about your portfolio, folder, or purpose statement.
- You will be interviewed by Department of Theatre and Dance faculty and students. We want you to relax and feel at home in our department.
