The departmental Major in Dance provides a pre-professional, liberal arts experience offering advanced course work in ballet, jazz, modern, tap, musical theatre, and world dance in a conservatory style.  The program is committed to developing technique, performance skills, and an understanding of historical, social, and intellectual aspects of the art of dance.  The dance program encourages participation in National, Regional, Community, and University experiences. 

The Department of Theatre and Dance believes our objectives can best be met by preparing undergraduate dance students:

• To demonstrate a proficiency in a variety of dance disciplines. 
• To perform in a wide range of choreographic styles. 
• To understand, evaluate, and assess dance and related arts.
