Design and technology students must present a portfolio at the end of each spring semester and must pass an exit portfolio review at the end of the senior year to complete this option. Students failing to pass a portfolio review at the end of one academic year are considered on probationary status for the option; those failing to pass a portfolio review at the end of the succeeding year will be dropped from the option.

The department recommends that design and technology students pursue a minor in art history through the Department of Art.
