The Human Faustus Project, 2007

Students in Ball State University's acting option are expected to participate in the Department of Theatre and Dance production program. The production season includes the following:

  • Mainstage Series: four theatre productions and two major dance concerts produced in the 410-seat University Theatre
  • Actors Studio Series: three or four intimate productions presented in the Edward S. Strother Theatre, a 100-seat flexible black box theatre
  • Workshop Series: variety of student productions presented in a 40-seat lab theatre
  • Downtown Dinner Theatre: early summer production including dinner at the Cornerstone Center for the Arts
  • Annual cinema production

Students also are encouraged to participate in productions outside the department, including stage productions in the Muncie area and independent television and film projects both at Ball State and off-campus. Special stage opportunities are available with Muncie Civic Theatre, one of the finest community theatres in Indiana.

In the past three years, acting students have been involved in more than 40 Ball State stage productions, 48 course-related camera projects, two sitcom pilots, and numbers of independent films. Students also work as interns and actors in a variety of professional (camera and stage) and summer stock productions.
