Ball State University's Registration process for Video Conferencing

Purpose of Registration:  To keep current with the video demand, gatekeepers were installed within the network to provide the following:

• Call setup
• Manage bandwidth
• Provide a simplistic method of end-users connecting to the internet.
• Ease of access to and from Ball State University's network

Begin Video Conference Configuration:

1.  Go to set-up mode on your device/computer.

2.  Locate the input screen which requests information regarding H.323 or gatekeeper addressing.

3.  Enter an H.323 name (the name can be relative to your location or personalized). 

4.  Then enter an E-164 number (or the H.323 extension).

On Campus:  765285xxxx
(area code, city prefix, last four digits are your office lan line phone number)

Off Campus Guest:  83176847788
(8 -  followed by your area code and local number)

Off Campus Global Media Members: 011 followed by 9 digits

Example: The country code for Istanbul, Turkey is 90 and the city code is 212. Therefore, the E- 164 number would be 011090212000.

6.  Locate the input screen which requests information for the gatekeeper configuration.

7.  Enter the IP address of the appropriate on-campus or off-campus gatekeeper.
