Teleplex
Partnerships header

The Teleplex staff works closely with campus departments and off-campus organizations to extend education, implement new educational technologies, and enhance our community.

Connections Live, an Emmy Award winning television program, produced by Ball State students under the auspices of the Department of Telecommunications and aired on WIPB-TV, benefits from the expertise or our production staff. The same may be said for Indiana Ourdoors, (http://www.indianaoutdoors.org/,) produced in partnership with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, WIPB-TV, and the Virginia B. Ball Center for Creative Inquiry. Indiana Outdoors highlights Indianas natural resources and recreational activities.

The Teleplex has produced a flagship campaign video presentation for the United Way of Delaware County. Our production staff travels the country to produce educational electronic field trips broadcast to classrooms throughout the United States. Participating students have visited sites as diverse as NASA and the National Baseball Hall of Fame via real-time video. Students enjoy unique opportunities to interact with experts at each site. The field trips are coordinated through Ball State Teachers College and sponsored by Best Buy.

Currently, Teleplex and WIPB staff members are working with Ball States Center for Media Design and emuse Technologies Ltd. to explore the educational and community outreach applications of interactive television, (iTV.) Ball States pioneering investigation of this new medium will help set the course for iTV in the U.S., where widespread deployment by cable companies and broadcasters is expected within two to five years.
