Blogging
What is a Blog?

A blog is a searchable website where one or multiple authors post journal entries in reverse chronological order. Blogs use a conversational style and often feature images and video.

Blogs differ from traditional websites in that they are easier to maintain. The author(s), using a browser, usually enters the content on a form or template and submits to the blog host. They are different than newsgroups or discussion groups in that only the author(s) can start a new subject. They are different than Internet forums in that only the authors can post information. News/discussion groups and forums allow anyone to post entries.

Types of blogs include: political blogs (think 2000 presidential election); personal blogs (online diaries); topical blogs (with a singular focus); business blogs (stock market). Educational blogs are becoming popular because they allow the teacher to have a course plan online to assist students who missed the class. Educational blogs also serve as "scrapbooks" for field trips or other experiences.
