Master of Arts in Career & Technical Education
Track for Community College Faculty
A special track was created in Ball State University's online Master of Arts program in Career and Technical Education by selecting specific core courses and specific electives of particular use for those who are teaching technical coursework in higher education.
Professional Core: Select a minumum 3 courses from the following:
- ITEDU 550 Career & Technical Student Organizations (3)
- ITEDU 552 Strategies and Materials for Career & Technical Related Content (3)
- ITEDU 568 Principles and Philosophy of Career & Technical Education (3)
- ITEDU 569 Organization and Coordination of Career & Technical Education (3)
- ITEDU 696 Coordinating and Conducting Cooperative Education Programs (3)
- ITMFG 560 Industrial Safety and Health (3)
Community College Faculty Special Courses: Take all 3 courses listed:
- EDAC 631 Adult and Community Education
- EDAC 634 The Adult as a Learner
- EDAC 635 Strategies for Teaching Adults
Research Methods Course: Take ITEDU 699
- ITEDU 699: Research in Technical Education
Note: For those who have not taken a statistics course, it is recommended that EDPSY 641, Statistical Methods in Educational & Psychological Research (3) be taken prior to ITEDU 699.
Directed Electives: Take additional courses to reach a total of 30 credits in the program.
Note: Select these in consultation with your advisor. Those interested in completing a thesis should plan to take THES 698: Thesis (6). Up to 9 graduate hours may be transferred in, subject to some conditions and advisor approval.
