Getting Started

Creating a Profile In Outlook 2007
The first step to accessing your BSU e-mail with Outlook 2007 is to set up a profile.

Check Your Outlook Version
Use the Help menu item in Outlook to see which version of Outlook you are running.

Ensure that Outlook is Online
If new e-mails are not being delivered to you while in Outlook, check to make sure it is online.

Change the E-mail Server for an Existing Profile
In an Outlook profile has server name entered that needs to be changed, this TechClip will explain how to do that.

 

Customize Outlook

Add a Signature in Outlook 2007
If you would like the same text displayed at the bottom on each new e-mail you send, such as your name and contact information, create a signature within Outlook.

Out of Office Assistant
The Out of Office Assistant will automatically reply to e-mails received from other BSU e-mail addresses.

 

Outlook 2007 Calendar

Add an Appointment to Your Calendar
Enter an appointment on your Outlook 2007 calendar.

Schedule an Appointment with Others
Check people's Outlook Calendar using the Busy Search feature and then schedule a meeting when everyone is available.

Adding Reoccurring Appointments
Regularly scheduled appointments that occur at the same time of day can be entered as a reoccurring appointment.

Print Your Calendar
Select a Print Style and then choose the Page Setup options so you can print your Outlook calendar.

 

Manage Your Account

Set up an Archive to Save
To free up space in your e-mail account, archive your e-mail using Microsoft Outlook 2007.  This allows you to copy e-mails message from your Outlook account to your local machine.

 

Share Access to Your Account

Add Delegates to Your Account
Setting delegates allows other users to have access to your account.  You can specify which part of your account they can access and specify what rights they have.

Access Another Person's Account
In order to have access to another person's e-mail or calendar, they must first set you up as a delegate.  Once they have done that, watching this TechClip will explain how you will need to set up Outlook 2007 to view their information.  Remember, you can only see what they give you access to see.

 

Other Useful Features

Recall a Message
If you have sent a message to someone that has a BSU account, you may be able to remove it from the Inbox by recalling it.

Mark Messages as Unread
You can change read messages in Outlook so that they appear as unread in the Inbox.

Recover Deleted Items
Emails and other Outlook items that have been deleted can be recovered and placed back in the Deleted Items folder.

 

Outlook Notes

Adding a Note
Notes are the electronic equivalent of paper sticky notes.  You can leave notes open on the screen while you work. 

Change the Color of a Note
Stay organized by customizing the color of the notes you have in Outlook.

Deleting a Note
It is easy to delete a note once you are done with it.
