Getting Started

Creating a Profile In Outlook 2003
Create a profile in Microsoft Outlook 2003 that will work with a Microsoft Exchange server.

Check Your Outlook Version
Outlook 2003 offers some great features including excellent SPAM and junk mail filtering.  Check to see which version of Outlook you are running.

Ensure that Outlook is Online
If new e-mails are not being delivered to you while in Outlook, check to make sure it is online.

Using IMAP with Outlook to Access Your BSU E-mail
Use the IMAP protocol to access your Ball State e-mail. This is useful if you use Outlook or Outlook Express from off-campus.

 

Dealing with Junk Mail and SPAM

Enable Junk E-mail filtering
Enable junk e-mail filtering for an existing Outlook profile. This will help prevent junk e-mail from arriving in your inbox.

Block a Sender to Stop Getting E-mail from Them
You can use the "Block Sender" feature of Outlook 2003 to stop getting e-mail from a particular e-mail address.

Customize Tool Bar for Junk Mail
Customize the Outlook tool bar to include buttons that can help you manage your junk mail filtering.

Manage your e-mail account usage by checking the quota usage from within Outlook 2003.

You can change read messages in Outlook so that they appear as unread in the Inbox.

Recall Sent Messages

Creating an Archive Using Microsoft Outlook 2003

The global address list provides a list of e-mail addresses for all BSU e-mail accounts.  It makes it easy to find an e-mail address or schedule a meeting.

Add a Contact from a E-mail
Add the sender from an e-mail you received to your contacts list.

Create an Outlook Contact
Create an Outlook Contact to save information about someone such as their e-mail address and other contact information.

New E-mail Addresses Listing
It can take up to 48 hours for new e-mail addresses to be listed in the global address book in your Outlook account. Learn how to request an update to get these new addresses sooner.

 

Working with the Calendar  

Add an Appointment to Your Calendar
Stay organized by adding your appointments to your Outlook calendar.  Includes instructions for setting the reminder time.

Outlook Notes

Notes Can Help You Stay Organized
Outlook notes are the electronic equivalent of a post-it note.  Use notes to store bits of information that you will need later.

Change the Color of a Note
Stay organized by customizing the color of the notes you have in Outlook.

Delete a Note
Remove a note that you have previously added to Outlook.  Deleted notes are moved to the Deleted Items folder, just like email messages that you delete.

Use Follow Up Flags to Organize Your Account
Follow up flags can be use to mark e-mails that you would like to address later. Follow up flags can be set in different colors and can have reminders associated with them.
