Office of Charter Schools Critical Friends Group Meetings

The Critical Friends Group is comprised of representatives from the Ball State University sponsored charter schools with the overall purpose of strengthen the relationship between the office and the schools BSU sponsors. 

  1. Help review the requirements for our operating charter schools to ensure those requirements are effective and efficient in our mission to provide both support and accountability for each school in the context of the flexibility provided to each school by the charter law.
  2. Help review any draft policies out for comment to ensure those documents are effective in setting clear expectations for our schools while providing sufficient flexibility to the context in which in the schools operate. Further, this group will provide guidance to the office in the consideration of possible additional policies.
  3. Work with our office to help identify schools with challenges in areas related to school performance and to provide support and assistance to those schools.
     

The meetings are held in Indianapolis.  Below are the dates for the Fall 2009-10 Critical Friends Meetings:

                        October 13, 2009        Meeting to be held at the Meridian Center, Indianapolis
                                                            from noon to 4:00 pm.

                        November 16, 2009   Meeting to be held at the Meridian Center, Indianapolis
                                                            from noon to 4:00 pm.

                        December 14, 2009     Meeting to be held at the Meridian Center, Indianapolis
                                                            from noon to 4:00 pm

The meeting dates for the Spring 2009-2010 Critical Friends Meetings will be posted in December 2009.
