This program prepares candidates to teach all aspects of English as a Second Language (ESL) from kindergarten through high school. The English as a New Language (ENL) license is added to an existing license. Thus, the program requires that the candidate complete a teaching license in standard licensure area. The program focuses on: the English language system, sociocultural and psychological aspects of ESL learning, theories of ESL instruction, and methods and materials for the teaching of ESL. A practicum is also included. The program requires 21 credit hours and is located in the Department of English. The introductory course for the program is ENG 220.
