SmallerBeginning in the 2003-2004 school year, beginning teachers began participating in the Indiana Mentoring and Assessment Program (IMAP). This is a two-year induction program during which the beginning teacher works with an assigned mentor to develop a professional portfolio. The portfolio is assessed during the second year of teaching. Passage of this assessment is necessary for the granting of a Proficient Practitioner License, which is valid for five years.
