Serving all Indiana charter schools, the OCSR partners with other charter school stakeholders and the charter schools themselves to assess other measures of performance and effectiveness through survey and evaluation. What does the OCSR do?
The OCSR provides services statewide to charter schools and stakeholders in three primary areas:
- Data Collection: The collection of longitudinal performance and demographic data provides the public with qualitative evidence of the effectiveness of charter schools and demonstrates the effect of the charter school environment on student learning over time. This data is used by authorizers for accountability reports, assists teachers with improving instruction, and is published in education journals and online.
- Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Testing Support: In addition to consulting with charter schools on their MAP Test of Student Achievement, the OCSR also has two mobile labs that can be used when schools do not have the technology available to administer MAP. Additional technical support is available by phone or onsite, should issues arise during testing.
- Professional Development: To help schools learn to use data gathered from NWEA testing to enhance student success, the OCSR offers professional development programs on-site or by videoconferencing. These half-day training sessions show administrators and teachers how to apply MAP results for the benefit of all students.
What research publications are available from the OCSR? Where can I find these publications?
The OCSR publishes occasional reports on topics relevant to charter schools and charter school success. These reports are available on the OCSR Web site in the left-hand navigation area under Resources.
