Testing Requirements

General Information
For licensure in Indiana all teachers are required to take the Praxis I Reading, Writing and Mathematics tests. Ball State requires that students achieve a passing score on these three tests prior to admission to the 300 level teacher education courses.  These tests can be taken by appointment at the testing center on campus (Testing Programs, Lucina Room 366, 285-1290) or on the Saturday testing dates at various location around the state.  Teachers are also required to pass the Praxis II test(s) for their content areas for licensure and graduation from the Ball State University Teacher Preparation program. Praxis II tests must be taken on the Saturday testing dates.

Where do I go for information regarding the Praxis Tests?
The home page of the Educational Testing Service (ETS) Praxis tests is   http://www.ets.org/praxis/.
Answers to general questions regarding teacher testing requirements in Indiana can be found on the Division of Professional Standards Web site (http://www.doe.state.in.us/dps/teacherprep/testing/welcome.html) or from the ETS Web site by clicking on Register for a Test.

Registration Information
Your may register online or you may mail in your registration forms (go to http://www.ets.org/praxis and click on Register for a Test). We do keep a limited supply of registration bulletins in the hall outside of the licensing office (TC 915).  Individuals who wish to apply for financial assistance with the test registration fees must mail in their registration forms.   Remember that you must code Ball State (Recipient Code 1051) so that we receive your scores.   The test center code for Ball State is 03357 and for Muncie Central High School is 03356.

Test Takers with Disabilities
