Proposal Review Process

In order to engage in a more thorough review process, the Office of Charter Schools is moving from a single, static timeline for reviewing charter proposals. We will have up to two proposal review cycles during a given calendar year.

The process works as follows:

Statements of Intent will be accepted prior to specific deadlines. A small team will review the Statements of Intent, conduct informal interviews and information sessions. Meeting the deadline does not guarantee consideration during the current review cycle.

Based on the Statement of Intent's quality, the Charter Schools Office will invite selected organizing groups to submit their proposal during one of the defined cycles. Decisions will be based on the completeness and quality of the submitted Statement of Intent.

Review of Statement of Intent and Proposal Processes. The processes are currently under review and will be posted by July 28, 2006.

The full proposal cycle can be found below. The next cycle for Statements of Intent has a deadline of September 15, 2006.

Statements of Intent submitted by September 15, 2006 will be expected to meet revised requirements posted by July 28, 2006.
