Transfer Orientation

Welcome transfer students!  We hope your transition to Ball State from your previous institution will be a smooth one.

If you are transferring in with 29 or less credits, you are considered a freshman transfer student.  You need to have 29 or less credits of course work already completed and submitted to the Office of Admissions.  Classes that you are presently enrolled in will be transferred once the transcript has been sent to the Office of Admissions.  Until that time, you are considered a freshman transfer student.  Your program will consist of a presentation from a representative from the Office of Orientation, getting your student ID, a question and answer session with current Ball State students and staff, lunch, a presentation from Academic Advising and a meeting with an Academic Advisor to plan your class schedule.

If you are transferring in with 30 or more credits, you are considered an upperclass transfer student.  You need to have 30 or more credits of course work already completed and submitted to the Office of Admissions.  Classes that you are presently enrolled in will be transferred once the transcript has been sent to the Office of Admissions.  If you do not have 30 or more credits already completed and submitted to the Office of Admissions, you are considered a freshman transfer student.  Your program will consist of a presentation from a representative from the Office of Orientation, a question and answer session with current Ball State students and staff, and an optional campus tour.  It is recommended that you schedule an appointment to meet with your academic advisor before attending your orientation program or the afternoon of your program.  You can visit www.bsu.edu/advisingcenters to find out who your academic advisor is and their contact information.  The Office of Orientation staff cannot schedule your advising appointment for you the day of your orientation program.
