Congratulations on your admission and welcome to Ball State University! Please plan to attend a half-day orientation program for all transfer students. This required program prepares you for the fall semester 2008.
You will attend a presentation from the Office of Orientation, question and answer session with current Ball State students and staff, receive your student ID, and take an optional tour of campus. The program begins at 9:30 a.m. with check-in beginning at 9:15 a.m. Ball State and Muncie are on Eastern Daylight Time. The main program will end at noon. If you wish to take a campus tour, it will begin at 12:00 p.m. and end by 1:00 p.m. You are welcome to have family members attend with you. Please notify us well in advance of your scheduled date if you or a family member attending orientation requires special assistance.
It would be to your advantage to meet with an academic advisor either before or the day you attend orientation. Space is limited in each Advising Center. If you wish to schedule your advising appointment the same day as orientation, please call the appropriate Advising Center with as much advance notice as possible. The Office of Orientation staff cannot schedule the advising appointment for you the day of your orientation program. You will schedule an individual appointment with an advisor that will typically last one hour. In order to schedule your advising appointment, go to www.bsu.edu/advisingcenters and there you will find a listing of six different Advising Centers. Please choose each Center until you find the one that lists your major. On that page, you will see the contact information for that specific Center. Please call the appropriate Advising Center for your major to schedule an appointment with an advisor (appointments are required - no walk-ins accepted). All appointments are on a first-come, first-served basis. Bring your catalog(s) from your previous institution(s) and a list of current courses in progress to your advising appointment.
