The Counseling Center offers free and confidential individual and group services to students.  Specialty services to women include treatment for depression, anxiety, relationship issues, eating disorders, sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, and domestic violence. Several groups for women are offered, including survivors of sexual assault, an eating disorder and a women's non-traditional student support group.  Emergency services for students are also offered on a 24-hour basis.  Access to these services may be directly through the Counseling Center reception office during regular business hours or through the after hours answering service (747-7330).  Although referrals are something made to the Health Center for medication consultation, a consulting psychiatrist is also available weekly to serve students in conjunction with counseling services.

The Counseling Center houses a resource room (Lucina 310-C) full of books, handouts, brochures, and tapes that offer self-help information for psychological and career issues.

The Counseling Center also offers workshops, lectures, and discussion groups for students in classes, student organizations, and residence halls.  Examples of current outreach topics include: weight management and eating disorders prevention, sexual assault prevention, stress management, and surviving a break up.

The Counseling Center houses both the Eating Disorders and the Sexual Assault Prevention Outreach Teams.  Under the auspices of the Counseling Center, these teams provide annual campus-wide awareness weeks.  Eating Disorders Awareness Week and Sexual Assault Awareness Week are held during February each year.  Nationally known experts and presenters are featured during these weeks.
