The BSU Health Center offers treatment to students with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). Many medications used to treat ADD are frequently abused as recreational drugs, and so it is necessary for us to be more cautious in our prescribing than with some disorders.
Students who are currently being treated elsewhere may come here to continue their treatment. They will be asked to give us permission to get copies of records from home confirming their diagnosis and current treatment. If a student needs a refill on medication before we are able to obtain such records, we will usually give 1 month of medication if the student brings us an empty prescription bottle showing their most recent prescription.
Students who have never been diagnosed with ADD but who believe they may have the disorder may come in to talk to a doctor about it. Most students are asked to have neuropsychological testing before being prescribed medication for ADD. Neuropsychological testing is available to BSU students at discounted rates through the School of Educational Psychology. Their website can be found at http://www.bsu.edu/schpsych/clinic/
Students who have been diagnosed with ADD may request accomodations through the department of Disabled Student Development. Their website can be found at http://www.bsu.edu/dsd/
