Professional Interests and Supervision Model
University of Missouri-Columbia (Counseling Psychology) (1990). Licensed Psychologist, HSPP; Associate Director/ Outreach and Consultation/Professional Psychological Clinic.

Professional Interests: Supervision and training; Outreach and consultation; ACOA issues; Eating disorders; Brief therapy; Career development; Couples therapy and relationship issues; Ericksonian hypnosis.

Supervision Model: I see myself as a consultant who provides feedback, a teacher and an advocate/mentor/role model who can work with the intern in managing their caseload, deal with conflict and negotiate for what they want from training. I assist interns in developing their own internal resources, build on the competencies they already have, help them build their confidence as a therapist and set goals. At the beginning of supervision, I develop a contract with interns, which can be revised over the course of supervision, regarding their goals for their clinical work and mutual expectations. Supervision is both personal and professional and can focus on professional issues as well as personal issues relevant to the intern's work. This is done while maintaining clear boundaries. I try to create an atmosphere of respect, trust and support and fun that is open, non-defensive and supports mutual learning. I incorporate Ericksonian/Solution Focused and Interpersonal Process, Gestalt/redecision, brief therapy, neurolinguistic programming, feminist and developmental models into my supervision.
