Supervision Model: Generally, my goal as a supervisor is to assist supervisees in becoming culturally sensitive and effective counselors and to monitor client welfare. My approach to supervision is developmental and relational in nature. I pay particular attention to supervisees' developmental level and work with supervisees in developing new therapeutic skills and building upon already developed skills. Assessment is an ongoing function throughout the supervision process. In this manner, identification of supervision goals assists in focusing supervisory sessions and in evaluating the progress of supervisees. I work at developing a trusting supervisory alliance with supervisees and attend to relational variables that may affect the supervision process. It is important for supervisees to feel safe in disclosing thoughts and feelings about their therapy with clients and to feel safe in engaging in self reflection as a counselor. Finally, in addition to using parallel process within supervision, I use a variety of interventions which will include videotape, to enhance supervisees growth.
