Timekeeping Methods
Student Employees are paid biweekly.  The Student Employment Pay Schedule, available from the Office of Payroll and Employee Benefits, lists the dates included in a pay period and when the checks will be issued for each pay period.

The Ball State University student employment work week begins on Sunday and ends on Saturday.

Checks are issued biweekly the week after the end of the pay period.

Students are paid an hourly rate for each hour worked.  The current minimum pay rate is $6.55 an hour.  Individual wage rates may be increased above $6.55 an hour to recognize merit/market conditions, job experience, special skills, and other factors.  Total student employee compensation, including longevity increases, cannot exceed $7.50 per hour.  The vice-president of each unit must approve wages higher than $6.55.

If your department uses the Kronos electronic time clock, a bar code must be attached to your Ball State I.D. when you begin working so that you can clock in and out of work.  Your supervisor will instruct you on procedures.

If your department uses Kronos Web Timestamp, your supervisor will provide instructions on how to record your hours worked.  You will need your BSU Outlook username and password.  For a primer on how to access Kronos, click here.

Electronic time clocks and Web Timestamp must accurately reflect the times you worked during the pay period.  It is illegal to falsify time on any time-reporting device.
