Preparing for Graduate School
1. Read Making It into a Top Graduate School, which is available in the Career Center's resource lab in Lucina Hall 235.

2. Attend one of the Career Center's graduate school panel discussions.

3. Read The Complete Guide to Graduate School Admission: Psychology and Related Fields by Patricia Keith-Spiegel or one of the other guides in the Career Center's resource lab and in Bracken Library.

4. Identify universities that offer programs you are interested in by consulting Peterson's Guide to Graduate and Professional Programs: An Overview, available at Bracken Library and in the Career Center's resource lab.

5. Use the Web to learn more about programs that interest you.

6. Take necessary examinations. The Counseling Center in Lucina Hall is the official testing site on campus. You can also visit these sites for information on the specific test you need:

Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)
Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
Law School Admission Test (LSAT)
Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)
Miller Analogies Test

7. Consult campus advisors in graduate academic fields. Click the Graduate Advisors link on the right to see a list of Ball State's graduate advisors based on your anticipated field of study.

8. Seek financial assistance in the form of fellowships, assistantships, grants, and loan programs at the institution where you choose to apply. Also contact the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid at Ball State, Lucina Hall 245, to get general information on financial aid programs.

9. If you would like to talk with someone about attending graduate school, schedule an appointment with a Career Center professional staff member.
