Career Exploration at a Job Fair
Looking for the right career? Not sure how to explore your options? Here are some basic tips to keep in mind if you are exploring careers at a job fair:

  • Dress professionally if you want employers to take you seriously.
  • Speak with as many representatives as possible. Employers are also seeking to speak with as many students as possible. Plan to have short conversations at a job fair.
  • Collect company literature and business cards so you can follow-up later. Don't approach tables for the "free stuff" they are distributing.
  • Ask questions about career opportunities, particularly skills and courses required for positions that interest you.
  • Ask employers about internship opportunities.
  • Record your findings and observations from the career fair in a notebook or a journal.
  • Keep all of your career information in one place.
