ElkhartCLEAN; Indiana CLEAN Program

Purpose

To initiate projects and programs that are environmentally beneficial, that enhance quality of life, and that help the city of Elkhart earn an official Indiana CLEAN designation.

Action

In the fall semester, the team enhanced the city's understanding of a large number of envisioned projects.  In the spring semester, the team focused on three of these projects: the City of Elkhart's Community Assessment Program, a LEED Workshop to be hosted by the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce, and the Waterpark Development Project.

Results

The team helped construct an environmental management plan for the city of Elkhart, which included programs to help Elkhart receive CLEAN designation.  Part of the team is working on a presentation to educate the community on LEED concepts and how following these concepts can enhance the city.  Another portion of our team is identifying ways to make the waterpark more sustainable.
