Veteran's Administration Hospital in West Lafayette
Purpose
The purpose of this project was to analyze the Indiana Veterans' Home (IVH) recruitment and retention strategies for their nurse and nursing support staff positions and to provide recommendations to improve performance in both areas.

Action
The team of students created a recruitment strategy that identified target markets and materials. As part of the recruitment materials, the students created a branding campaign for nursing positions at the IVH. The students conducted an organizational climate assessment to determine key areas to improve for retention and provided a retention strategy based on feedback from nurses and nursing support staff.

Results
The team conducted a salary survey of relevant labor market competitors; created a recruitment strategy for hiring nurses and nursing support staff; created recruitment materials for hiring nurses and nursing support staff (brochures, posters, giveaways, job fair booth); created a retention strategy for nurses and nursing support staff; created, administered, and analyzed a survey of the organizational climate as it relates to nurses and nursing support staff; and developed an employee referral program.
