Purpose
Ball State University students are developing a Web-based software system that will help police departments across the state keep track of their officers' training records over their entire careers.  This system will help police departments eliminate large amounts of paperwork and also streamline their reporting requirements to various state agencies.  It will provide all the information, currently contained in a three-inch binder, as a single dashboard on the Web.

Action
The students analyzed customer requirements, designed the software system, successfully implemented it, tested it, and provided documentation for the end users.  In addition, the students also helped the client partner DesignPD improve product marketing, streamline business processes, and develop communication strategies.

Results
The team created a fully functional and operational software system; the implementation code; system design documents; quality assurance documents; product and user manuals; an operational database; and business process improvement strategies.
