Action Teams

In response to the racial incidents that occurred during the Fall semester, three action teams were appointed to address concerns raised by members of the Ball State University community.  Faculty, students, and staff are serving on each of the teams.

Campus Safety Action Team
The purpose of this group is to clarify how students report bias or hate incidents and identify appropriate procedures for dealing with such incidents.  A second purpose is to develop a comprehensive list of relevant information regarding existing policy statements and identify ways to make that information easily accessible to students.  The group will review our exisitng harassment policy and procedures and provide recommendations for needed changes.

Campus Programming Action Team
The responsibilities of this team are to examine campus-wide programming available through various deartments and student groups and determine how areas can collaborate to maximize impact.  This team is designing an awareness campaign that will be implemented during the fall semester with teasers during the summer orientation program.  A final responsibility of this group is to design a web page specifically dedicated to diversity.

Education and Development Action Team
There are two primarty responsibilities for this team.  First, the team is examining and identifying diversity and sensitivity programs targeted to faculty and staff to enhance the calssroom and campus climate for students.  The groupd will identify new initiatives that will be implemented in the coming year.  The team is owrking with the University Core Curriculum Task Force to include a diversity requirement for all students.
