Ball State University is dedicated to maintaining a community in which all members act with integrity and civility and demonstrate respect for those whose diverse cultures, heritages, and perspectives enrich our institution and the larger community.
A safe and respectful campus environment must be maintained in order for students to achieve their personal, academic, and professional goals. Be assured that the university deplores any type of behavior directed against students that in any way interferes with their ability to focus on academics or that threatens their sense of security and membership in our community.
Regrettably, we are reminded that incidents of bias and more serious offenses such as harassment and physical abuse do occur, and these incidents deeply offend and harm individuals and, by extension, all of us who are members of the university. We are committed to confronting inappropriate behavior and have well-defined processes to do so. At the same time, we stand ready to support and assist those who have been affected by the wrongdoing of others.
We invite and encourage students to report incidents. Students should not hesitate to report incidents to the Department of Public Safety at 285-1111. If you are not comfortable with reporting an incident to the Department of Public Safety, please consider talking with one of the many other individuals on campus that will listen and offer support.
