Program History
The Miss Ball State University Scholarship Program began in 1958, and has since been a preliminary for the Miss Indiana Scholarship Program. During its 50 year history, two Ball State University students, and one Miss Ball State (this year's - Nicole Rash) has gone on to earn the title of Miss Indiana.  Miss Ball State 2007, Nicole Rash, went on to become 1st runner-up at the 2008 Miss America pageant.

The Program Mission
The Miss Ball State University Scholarship Program promotes the participation of today's young women in community service, personal and professional growth, academic achievement and the spirit of competition. The Program supports the pursuit of this mission through the issuance of scholarship dollars to qualifying participants.

The Miss America Organization
The Miss America Organization (MAO) is a not-for-profit corporation that has maintained a tradition of empowering American women to achieve their personal and professional goals, while providing a forum in which to express their opinions, talent and intelligence. The Miss America Organization makes over $45 million in scholarships available each year, making it the largest scholarship program for women in the world. Today, educational achievement, scholarship and public service continue to be the primary objectives of the Miss America Organization in the face of diversifying roles for women in American society.

Scholarships
In 2008, The Miss Ball State University Scholarship Program awarded an excess of $7,500 in scholarship money and gifts.
 
To Enter
You must be a female between the ages of 17 and no older than 24.
You must be a United States Citizen.
You must be a full-time Ball State University student.
You must meet character criteria as set forth by the Miss America Organization.
You must be in reasonably good health to meet the job requirements.
You must be able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities as set forth by the Miss Ball State Program.
You must raise $100 for Miss America's new national platform - Children's Miracle Network.  To get started raising your $100 go to www.missamerica4kids.org and click on the "New Contestants" link.
Platform
In addition to Miss America's national platform, each contestant must choose a social issue that she will advocate during her year of service.
