The terrific news we have shared about the success of Drive to Distinction: The Ball State Stadium Campaign made this year's homecoming very memorable.
At the Oct. 15 homecoming game, we introduced John and June Scheumann, Paul and Patricia Kozel, and John and Janice Fisher -- three couples whose significant gifts helped us surpass our $12 million stadium campaign goal. In honor of their generosity, we will name the stadium, a planned stadium communications center, and the training complex after the Scheumanns, Kozels, and Fishers, respectively.
We also are especially grateful to John Fisher for his leadership as chairman of the Drive to Distinction campaign. The strong, energetic direction he provided guided the campaign past its goal within a year of the kickoff.
In addition, we want to thank the more than 700 benefactors -- alumni, friends, families, businesses, and foundations -- who supported the campaign. When the expansion and renovation are complete in 2007, we will not only have an outstanding athletic facility, but we will also have the largest outdoor venue in East Central Indiana, one we hope will host a wide variety of community and university events and celebrations.
