In life, success depends on education, education depends on opportunity, and opportunity depends on knowledge and support.

Unfortunately, young people who go directly from foster care to college often lack access to the consistent support it takes for scholastic success.

Guardian Scholars exists to make sure former foster youths have a reliable network of support to succeed in college - and life.

They bring the desire. We provide the path.

The Overview of Post-Secondary Support Programs for Former Foster Youth is a guidebook prepared by the Social Science Research Center and the Ball State/Ivy Tech Guardian Scholars with support from Lumina Foundation for Education. This guidebook is the result of a national survey of post-secondary support programs for foster youth. The hope is that this information will serve as a best practice learning tool to those who are developing or wanting to develop, or have already developed and wish to strengthen, campus-based services for this population.  Adobe Acrobat Reader is needed to view this document.
