SAFE-on-campus

SAFE-on-campus is a program for people who wish to help others with diversity issues. First you have to attend a training session given by the Counseling and Psychological Services at Ball State. Then, all SAFE members receive a yellow sign to be displayed on their door that recognizes them as a trustworthy person you can confide in. This is a great training program for hall directors, RA's, professors, or anyone who deals with students on a regular basis. If you wish to be in the program, contact any of our executive members for more information.

PFLAG

Muncie PFLAG, Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, meets every fourth Sunday of the month at 5:00 pm in the Student Center. PLFAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons and their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten all ill informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights.

 

Human Rights Campaign

As America's largest gay and lesbian organization, the Human Rights Campaign provides a national voice on gay and lesbian issues. The Human Rights Campaign effectively lobbies Congress, mobilized grassroots action in diverse communities, invests strategically to elect a fair-minded Congress, and increases public understanding through innovative education and communication strategies.

IYG

Indiana Youth Group is a unique non-profit organization advocating for and serving lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth in Indiana. The number of youth attending IYG drop-in services during the past year has increased dramatically. The need for services has continued to grow and word has spread about this remarkable organization and what it offers to the LGBT youth in the Central Indiana region.

Indiana Equality

Indiana Equality is a coalition of several statewide organizations and regional groups. Each organization has made a financial commitment to the coalition and has pledged to devote time, energy, and focus to this multi-year effort. Cumulatively, participating organizations have amassed more than 70 years of experience advocating for basic civil rights.

 

NOW

The National Organization for Women is the largest organization of feminist activists in the United States. Since its founding in 1966, NOW's goal has been to take action to bring about equality for all women. NOW works to eliminate discrimination and harassment in the workplace, schools, the justice system, and all other sectors of society; secure abortion, birth control and reproductive rights for all women; end all forms of violence against women; eradicate racism, sexism and homophobia; and promote equality and justice in our society.

The Word is Indiana's only all-gay newspaper.
