• hold a master's degree from an accredited institution
• have two years of successful appropriate professional experience
• have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a scale of 4.0 at the master's level
• achieve acceptable composite scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) general test
• be recommended by the department's advanced studies committee
