Diagnostic Learning Center
The Diagnostic Learning Center offers psychoeducational evaluation services for children and adolescents suspected of being learning disabled.

Graduate students from the Department of Special Education and Department of Educational Psychology, working under faculty supervision, use a multidisciplinary model of assessment. During the two-day evaluation period, the following areas are explored:

  • written language
  • reading (decoding)
  • reading comprehension
  • listening comprehension
  • math calculations
  • math reasoning

In addition, hearing and vision acuity are screened and an intellectual assessment is made. These procedures ensure that all requirements of Indiana Article 7 (Indiana law governing the education of students with disabilities) and IDEA (Federal law governing the education of students with disabilities) are met. Norm-referenced and informal assessment and interview techniques are used.
