As a part time student how would I manage my practicum (internship)?
Part time students have to plan ahead to complete the full time practicum (internship). Most complete practicum over the 11 week summer semester and with some students special arrangements have been made to extend the internship. Students working full time, however, do have to make special arrangements with an employer. Some part time students plan to quit their job to complete the practicum and thus complete their degree. Practica are completed the last semester prior to graduation.
Are social work courses offered at night?
Most social work courses are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the day. Students who are working during the day usually arrange with employers to be off on Tuesday and Thursdays for part of the day or use vacation days.
A few courses are currently offered in the evening (SOCWK100, SOCWK300; SOCWK320, SOCWK370). These evening classes meet once a week and begin at either 5:30 or 6:30 p.m. Several required non social work courses and general education (core) courses are offered at night.
Are there courses I can take online?
Social work classes are not currently offered online. However, many general education (Core) courses are. Such courses can be taken either as 10 week or 9 month courses. Students cannot take more online courses than face to face courses in any semester. So a student can register for 3 on campus face to face courses and 2 online courses, but not 3 online courses and 2 on campus face to face courses.
