Janice Altland, assistant director of Campus Programs, received the Patsy Morley Outstanding Programmer Award Feb. 28 at the National Association for Campus Activities conference in Nashville, Tenn.
Executives, students, faculty, staff, former students and agents associated with the University Program Board (UPB) submitted more than 26 letters of recommendation and support in her behalf.
The award recognizes a university professional staff member for outstanding work in several areas, including: developing students' leadership skills and creativity; developing activities programming as viable, co-curricular and educational; and displaying good managerial skills.
Award criteria also states that colleagues should view the individual as an educator who has an extraordinary impact on students' lives.
Altland joined UPB in 1988. The organization initiates many of the activities designed to make the Ball State campus the focus of community life for university students, faculty, staff and administrators.
