During spring break, Beckman participated in a contest to be a guest host on the show - and he won.

"This has been an amazing week, I don't even have any eight-by-ten photographs to pass out for media requests," Beckman joked.

"By next Thursday, though, my 15 minutes of fame will be over," Beckman added. "I have my toe in the door, and I hope to make the most of it."

Beckman will fly to New York on Sunday, tape segments on Monday and Tuesday and appear live on Wednesday. Along with hosting for a day, Beckman will receive $10,000 to work with Buena Vista Television for six months.

Ball State students may have seen Beckman's work on "Connections Live," an award-winning television magazine show produced on campus. Beckman, the co-executive producer, has worked on 24 episodes this year.

"He truly deserves this chance," said James Shasky, "Connections Live" faculty advisor. "Andy is focused, goal-oriented and hard-working. He's always around, always working - you'd swear he sleeps in the studio."
