Assistantships

The English Department offers master's and doctoral candidates teaching and research assistantships on a competitive basis.

Projected graduate assistantships stipends for the 2009-10 academic year are as follows:

• Doctoral students: $16,887 for the academic year
• Master's students: $13,152 for the academic year
• Summer Session assistantships, if available, will be funded at 15% of the academic year stipend.

If you are a new applicant and wish to be considered for an assistantship, be sure to check the appropriate box on the Graduate School application.  If you are a continuing student, pick up the assistantship application form from the Graduate Programs Office and turn it in by Jan. 31.  Decisions about assistantships are generally made in March and announced in April.
