Academic/Research Interests
Involving the elements of fiction into creative non-fiction and
non-fiction writing; dissertation investigated connections between
emotional intelligence and basic writer skills.
Teaching Philosophy
Since there is such difficulty in overcoming the delay between what a
student will learn in the composition classroom and their realizing the
importance of that learning, everything possible must hinge upon making
the classroom material and the concepts relevant.
Also, because there are such differing skill levels among students in
the Core writing sequence, assignments must have a leveling that
challenges the better writers while encouraging the weaker ones.
